Our 19th Century Single Breasted Frock Coat is a historically styled reproduction of the men's frock coats worn throughout the mid-19th century. Designed for Civil War reenactment, living history, historical interpretation, and civilian impressions, this coat is patterned from original photographs and period tailoring manuals.
This single breasted frock coat works particularly well for a wide variety of 19th-century civilian impressions, including doctors, merchants, professionals, tradesmen, businessmen, and other middle-class American men. Depending on your cloth, color, buttons, and accessories, it can be used for impressions ranging from the 1830s through the Civil War era and into the later 19th century.
The coat features three exterior pockets, a polished cotton lining, split-tail skirt, and hand-sewn buttonholes. Choose from a wide range of wool, linen, tweed, and wool-cotton jeans cloth options, along with several period-style button and collar choices.
