A Civil War reproduction handkerchief based on the original carried by Lieutenant Gilbert Perry Gordy of the 3rd Georgia Cavalry, known as the “Chattahoochee Rangers.”
Gordy served through major western theater campaigns, including actions around Murfreesboro, Chickamauga, Chattanooga, Knoxville, Atlanta, and the Carolinas. He was wounded during the fighting around Atlanta and died of his injuries on October 14, 1864.
The original handkerchief was preserved with Gordy’s frock coat and other associated items. This 22 x 18 inch cotton reproduction offers a documented connection to Civil War cavalry service and personal material culture.
