A large 29 x 29 inch 100% cotton reproduction handkerchief based on one owned by Corporal Cyrus Dennis of the 1st Maryland Potomac Home Brigade Cavalry.
A large Civil War reproduction handkerchief based on the original owned by Corporal Cyrus Dennis of the 1st Maryland “Potomac Home Brigade” Cavalry.
The original handkerchief was acquired along with Dennis’ Bible, which he carried during the war. The Potomac Home Brigade Cavalry participated in campaigns across northern Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania, including Harper’s Ferry, Gettysburg, Falling Waters, Kernstown, Winchester, Fisher’s Hill, and Cedar Creek.
This 29 x 29 inch cotton reproduction features a pleasing red design. The original had been split diagonally down the middle and hand hemmed along the cut edge, making it a particularly interesting example of Civil War material culture.
