"Freeman" Knit Cap

James Simpson painting

This new knit cap is taken from the cap pictured in the circa 1822 painting by James Alexander Simpson of an African American "freeman".  The cap is hand knit wool and sits tall on the wearer's head and is made of red, white, and blue wool.  An excellent cap for anytime during the late 18th century through the Civil War era and beyond.  One size fits most.

    Worth the money!

I just got this hat today and I don't think I'll ever buy another sleeping cap again. Its very nice quality, size, and even comes with a pom pom that isn't pictured above. If I loose this thing, you bet I'm buying another one!

This item came quick as usual! I work at a living history site in Colorado and use this almost every morning until the sun warms things up or all day if it doesn't. Its a great period piece and is useful as well. It won't be the last item I purchase from Chris!
