These rubberized rain coats are patterned off original examples and feature a fold down collar and two exterior patch pockets (as seen in original examples). This coat is not a "copy" of any one rubberized raincoat of the period, but it is a combination of features found on original examples. The coat is single breasted and has a 4 button closure with handsewn button holes. There are no good reproductions of Goodyear rubber buttons available so our reproductions are available with black composite buttons that closely resemble period hard rubber buttons. Original Goodyear hard rubber buttons are readily available on ebay and through The Button Baron if you would like to purchase original buttons for your raincoat.
As stated above, this coat is made from rubberized cloth. The coat features sewn seams and not vulcanized seams, and therefore there will be some dampening around the top seams if the wearer is in a hard rain/downpour as the sewn seams make the rubberized cloth not completely waterproof. I have worn this coat in heavy rains and there was a dampening of interior of the coat around the seams, but I was still much much drier than I would have been without the coat or with a poncho! The coat also features a reinforced tail split to keep the split from ripping at the stress point (problem seen in some originals).
Note - If you are able to order, your coat should be in stock. Mistakes can happen, but we are making every effort to keep these coats in stock for quick delivery.
