Our mid-19th century boots are the standard boot of the time period. Our leather boots are made straight last with a 12 inch top and hand pegged soles and a nailed heel. The boots are lighter weight than many reproductions currently on the market today, and are closer to the weight of the originals we have viewed and handled. Please see below calf measurements for stock boots before ordering!! Many sizes currently in stock, if not in stock, it will require a 4-6 week wait for the boots to be made. 12" Boots

Bought these boots Thursday evening at Chickamauga 160, wore them all day Friday (walking the battle field), all 3 battles over the weekend. Out of the box broke in, can't beat them, glad I went with these than some other company.

These boots are excellent. I've been breaking them in wearing to work. Very comfortable. Very authentic. Love them. Would buy them again! If you need a pair of boots, South Union Mills is the place.

My normal size is 12 1/2 EE so I ordered a 13. Boots seemed a little snug at first but due to the thin leather they have stretched to a comfortable fit.

I was excited to receive these boots and they did not disappoint! Excellent right out of the box! I tried them on with the two ply socks from South Union Mills and had no problems with fit. I cut the grass wearing the boots, and these boots made it through hurricane Ian! These are excellent boots! Well made and will get you through a hurricane! Thank you to the maker and to South Union Mills! I highly recommend these boots it’s going to be a long War!

Very soft leather uppers , very comfortable, seem to fit true to size of you go up a size and how they should fit , for that period , would recommend!

Boots like these seem to have been very common in the mid-19th Century. Frequently seen in period photographs and George Caleb Bingham paintings like "The Jolly Flatboat Men. Leather is lightweight and supple, and should acquire the characteristic sag often seen in period boots after several wearings. Incidentally, a well-worn pair of boots much like these were recovered from the steamboat Arabia.
