You won't be getting cold while wearing this coat! We are very excited to finally be able to offer an authentic overcoat for the citizen and soldier alike. Our civilian overcoat is made from 100% woolen cloth and is lined with brown polished cotton. The coat features cloth covered buttons with hand sewn button holes, hand finishing, two functioning exterior and two functioning interior pockets on each side of the coat. The coat also features a completely detachable cape (also featuring pockets) that is also lined with brown polished cotton. The cape attaches to the coat by buttons around the neck and shoulder area of the coat. This coat is patterned from the Archibald Smith overcoat in the collection of the Atlanta History Center. The original was worn by Smith while a member of the Georgia Battalion of Cadets during the winter of 1864-1865. A great asset to your impression for a great price!

Absolutely massive. I was expecting a little more Clark Gable, and a little less Friar Tuck, but hey, what can you do?

Just got mine in yesterday, but I have already fell kn love with it, and the first cold front of this winter is moving in tomorrow night, so it was right on time. My coat goes down about half way between my calf, and my ankle; with the cape extending not quite to the end of the sleeve, but about to where my watch sits on my wrist. Between the cape length, and my fabric choice (dark brown jean wool,) it is very reminiscent of a medieval monks robe in appearance since the cape completely conceals the sleeves giving it a robe, or cloak-like appearance, hence the Friar Tuck comment. My only gripe is that I wish it had more pockets, although I understand it is patterned off an existing coat that apparently only has one pocket, so not much to be done about that. Overall a great coat. If you happen to be significantly shorter than average you may need to specify you need a shorter length, because I'm '5"11, and have to be careful going up stairs to not step on it.

Absolute amazing quality and hands down the best coat I've purchased to date! The long wait was most definitely worth it, as I've worn it out multiple times and I get all kinds of compliments. I also can tell that this coat was made with care and attention to detail for sure. I will most certainly be ordering from SUM again very soon! I highly recommend this maker, he and his team are in my opinion the best in the business!!!

This is a great addition to any civilian impression. It looks great and it's warm as can be. The removable cape is a great add on to this coat.

Purchased for Garfield's Ascent, I can vouch for how warm it kept me. The wind didn't penetrate. Good looking coat, and I particularly liked the 3 buttons to hold the cape in place. Stylish enough that I will use it outside of reenacting as well.
