Our Excelsior Civilian Cotton Shirt is a historically styled 19th century men's cotton shirt made for Civil War reenactment, living history, historical interpretation, and period civilian impressions.
The shirt is based on mid-19th-century styles and is made from custom-woven cotton cloth reproduced from a mid-19th-century French salesman’s cloth sample book in the South Union Mills collection. The result is a distinctive fabric and shirt that you will not find elsewhere.
Designed with period construction in mind, the shirt features a three-button front opening, underarm gussets, full shoulders, two chest pockets, bone buttons, and carefully finished hand-sewn buttonholes. It is an excellent choice for a Civil War civilian impression, whether portraying a farmer, merchant, tradesman, craftsman, or other mid-19th-century American.
