Take your 18th Century impression to the next level! Although many 18th Century men made do without a pair of underdrawers, men's underdrawers did exist and some research suggests that the frequency of these being worn increased toward the latter part of the 18th Century.
Research shows that George Washington as well as Thomas Jefferson, for example, routinely wore underdrawers. Drawers can be found on probate inventories, as well, in the 1780s as well as listed on some military issue records. Drawers were listed on probate inventories even for men on the frontier, with them being listed among the items on probate inventories for casualties of the Battle of Blue Licks (1782) in what would become Kentucky.
Our reproduction drawers are made from finely woven 100% linen and feature cloth covered buttons and cloth ties (more narrow ties than in picture). They feature a combination of machine and hand sewing, with the button holes and interior seams being felled and finished by hand. These are to be worn under the breeches and next to the skin so keep this in mind when considering sizing.
