17th Virginia Infantry Civil War Reproduction Handkerchief – 100% Cotton, 18x18”
We are excited to introduce the newest addition to our Civil War–era reproduction collection — a faithful recreation of a handkerchief once carried by a member of the 17th Virginia Infantry during the War Between the States.
This historic reproduction captures the look and feel of an authentic period accessory. Made from 100% soft cotton, it measures 18x18 inches and features a striking pattern of blue stars throughout the design — a simple yet meaningful emblem of the soldiers who served.
Historical Background
The 17th Virginia Infantry was formed in the northern Virginia counties surrounding Manassas and played a prominent role in the fighting there. Originally part of Longstreet’s Brigade, the regiment also served under Generals Ewell, A.P. Hill, Kemper, and Corse during the course of the war.
The 17th Virginia fought with the Army of Northern Virginia from Williamsburg to Fredericksburg, took part in Longstreet’s Suffolk Expedition, and served in the Gettysburg Campaign, eastern Tennessee, and North Carolina operations. In 1864, the regiment returned to Virginia, fighting at Drewry’s Bluff, Cold Harbor, and in the Petersburg trenches, before ultimately laying down arms at Appomattox.
