Reproduction circa 1750s "Lyman" shot bags. Correctly made from vegetable tanned cow leather that is burnished and sewn by hand with linen thread. These are correctly decorated as the original with a rolled wheel that is faithful to the original including the inner chain link design seen on the flap of the original. Has a thin leather divider in the interior as the original. These forms of bags commonly show up in English images of the 1750s-1770s. The original was used by Lemuel Lyman in 1755. Lemuel Lyman was a provincial soldier from Easthampton Massachusetts who was involved in the Battle of Lake George, Sept 8th 1755. He was shot by a French musket ball, the ball penetrated his ball pouch but was slowed down enough by it and its contents that it did not kill him. He survived and kept using the pouch through his service, eventually passing it down through his family. Published in "Clash of Empires" exhibit catalog. Bags are sent un-oiled.
