Made to the same specs as our Civilian Style cap and with the same research in mind, this cap features a black wool body, leather visor, and fold down ear muffs with cotton ribbon that ties for closure. The cap also features a leather interior sweatband and black cotton lining.

Spent the past 20 years in Florida, where neither the weather nor the time periods I reenacted required winter clothing. Now, relocated to Arkansas and interpreting the second half of the 19th century, my head was suffering in the winter chill. This hat was just the thing--it was in stock, so I had it in very short order. It fits well, is comfortable and, should I need it, the flaps will shelter my ears nicely. Very well done.
I am very impressed with this cap. I had wanted a winter cap to keep the ears warm. This is something will wear feeding and doing farm work - not just reenacting.
Kept my ears warm and sun out of my eyes. My only gripe is the straps hang akwardly around face when the flap is folded down. Had to keep tucking them in. May just remove them and apply to bottom of flap so they buckle on top of hat and not in front. But all in all a great addition to my kit.
