18th Century Hand Knit Stockings - Single ply

Single ply 18th century stockings

Hand knit from 100% wool yarn, in SINGLE PLY.  These stockings are made from what is best described as a "fingering" weight wool yarn and would be a great addition to your 18th century impression!  The stockings are very tight knit and light weight and amazingly require over 40 hours of hand knitting time!  Available only in natural white and gray.  Made with 18th century common heel and center seam in the back of the stocking.

Note:  There is a high demand for this product currently.  Each pair takes approximately 40 hours of knitting time, thus the wait you incur on this item might as much as 6-8 months if not already in stock.  If you do not want to do this, please DO NOT ORDER.  These are not mass produced and are actual HAND KNITTED stockings...not knit on a late 19th century machine.  If you want to know what the status is on stock/orders, please email me at chris@southunionmills.com and I will give you my best estimate. Thank you.

Very well made! Much more authentic look than the typical tube socks that other vendors sell.

I love my stockings. They look great, feel great and are clearly made with great care and experience. I have so much thanks and appreciation for the hands that made them. Thank you!

    comfortable and fine

Posted by Unknown on 25th May 2016

I really love these stockings. Definitely quality work and the fit is superb . The wool is fine yet sturdy and soft on the leg. I will definitely be in for another pair. It takes time to get the order but as they are hand knit, this is understandable. The only thing I wish is that there would be status updates from time to time. Overall, though, definitely worth every cent and the wait.

    Good in single ply

Posted by Steve on 14th Dec 2014

I have bought two pairs of these single ply stockings and they serve me well for wearing at work in cold weather. The knit is a bit large for the period of my mid to late 18th century portrayal but they are well made.
